Case Study:
Missouri Humanities Council
Time Period: 2009 - present
Featured Project: Passages
Passages is the Council’s online and print bi-monthly newsletter. Since mid-2011, VLC has helped support this publication by assisting with the planning of each edition and the editorial calendar. VLC also creates and provides content for the newsletter. VLC provides technical support to staff members at the Council with the Constant Contact program used to send out online version of the publication.
The Missouri Humanities Council acts as a catalyst for cultural organizations, helping them to connect with people and communities across Missouri in dynamic ways that spark the deep excitement for story and learning. Their work includes consultative training, mentoring, grants for Missouri organizations, exhibit tours, literature, reading programs and other resources. Working with the Council, Van Leuven Communications supports a number of their programs each year.
VLC works to ensure each event and program organized by the Missouri Humanities Council is featured in statewide media publications. VLC has secured stories for the Council on NPR, The Missouri Municipal League, AAA Midwest Traveler and Missouri Life Magazine. VLC has also fostered partnerships with Missouri Tourism to coordinate the Council’s events in their publications. VLC works on behalf of the Council to support partnerships with other like-minded non-profit organizations by connecting the Council and then supporting and maintaining these relationships.
